Profile
Welcome to Kirkintilloch Mountaineering and Walking Club. We’re a well-established mountaineering club with walkers and climbers. We’ve been organising walks since 1975 and we’re always welcoming new members. The Club programme includes weekend excursions staying in club huts, bunkhouses or hostels about six times per year. The programme also includes day outings of varying lengths and difficulty. These include low level, easier walks every Wednesday and more strenuous high level walks every second Sunday. Walks are normally within a two-hour drive of Kirkintilloch.
We have Wednesday walks which are easy, low level rambles and weekend trips which are more challenging, higher ascent walks including overnight trips. For more information on all of our activities please see our website.
The Club is affiliated to Mountaineering Scotland and benefits from its activities and publications. Every member receives the MS quarterly journal, โThe Scottish Mountaineerโ. Mountaineering is a potentially dangerous activity and participants should always be well equipped. Walking in the Scottish Mountains can be physically tiring and the weather is a major factor.
Walks can often involve a long distance and take in thousands of feet of ascent and descent. If new to hillwalking, we would not recommend the more arduous mountain walks. A good level of stamina and fitness is needed if you expect to enjoy serious hillwalking and regular walkers develop mountain fitness.
The Club always welcomes new members. If you are interested in joining the Club or want more information please see our website or contact Anita(Club Secretary) on 07877 853617 or Eunice(Chairperson) on 0141 776 7794
